French for native speakers
Many French children and teenagers, who live on the
Eastside, have been students in an American school. Whether it has been for
long or a short time, they discover that they cannot develop as fast as they
would do if they were in France. In particular, the student slows in developing
the writing and reading skills of the student in the French educational system.
My goal with these students, consists mainly in discovering
the shortcuts they need to progress normally. Students need “Shortcuts” because
the student’s time is not expandable. The students can be at any level:
elementary school, middle school, or high school.
My classes:
- Individual lessons, depending on the students, that target a part or all aspects of the French program. This includes linguistic facts such as grammar, conjugation, spelling, vocabulary, and writing texts.
- Small group classes (4/5 students) :
French Language and Literature
Reinforces the student’s reading skills through a dynamic
approach of some literary texts (poetry, novel etc.). In fact, the objectives for
middle school today are: “ First, to develop capacity to read various texts, to
comprehend diverse writing texts, to understand thoughts of an author; from Second,
to generate capacity to express a will, a thought in a writing text. Reading
and writing are thus components to favor and prioritize.
French History
Conceived like a
series of mini-conferences, develops curiosity about political and cultural history
of France in the mind of the student. The reason is very simple: programs of
French from 6th to 9th
grade (6èmeh to 3ème) follow in part “a chronological
presentation in relation with the programs of History: texts from Antiquity in
6th grade, literature from Middle Ages and Renaissance in 7th
grade, narrative texts from the 19thcentury in 8th grade,
and texts from the XXth and XXIst centuries in 9th grade.

or after this time frame. Classes can be held on Saturdays.
French as a Foreign Language (not native speakers,
teenagers, children)
These classes, are mainly for students who previously have
studied or are presently studying French at school. They are taught one-on-one
or in small groups.
The one-on-one lessons are essentially tutoring and follow
the French course of the student his/her school.
The classes in small group follow a specific pedagogy.
They focus on comprehending literary texts and are more suited for middle
school or high school students who already understand written French.
French as a Foreign Language (non-native speakers - adolescents, children)
The courses are offered in two styles: individual or small
group. They are primarily aimed at students who study French at school or who
have studied French at some time in the past.
Individual courses are essentially support the course of
French followed by the student at the school. In other words, this is private
tutoring for non-native French speakers.
Small group courses - I offer a specific teaching. Students focus on the understanding of literary texts. This class is aimed rather at young students or high school students who already have a fairly good understanding of
reading and writing French.
